You know those people (I hope you have these people) who you can go years, YEARS, without seeing and when you finally get to spend time with them, it’s like no time has passed at all? I’m spending the weekend with those people. My college friends taught me lots of things – the least of which is how to drink good beer – but also that there are lots of people who think burying your respective noses in a book is a perfectly fine way to spend time together. This is the ninth (!!) year that we’ve done this annual weekend get-together/giant slumber party, but I unfortunately haven’t been able to go for a long, long time.
I doubt I’ll have as much time to read this weekend as I’d like, but nonetheless, I’ll be bringing at least a book or two with me.
Certainly I’ll be finishing the book I’m reading this week, We Sinners by Hanna Pylväinen. It’s a beautiful, slim little title that I’m trying to savor because the language is just splendid. And I know we all do it, but I’m totally judging this book by its cover. Seriously though, how lovely is this?
And the first line? Equally as captivating.
She should have told him already about the church but she hadn’t.
What do you have on your reading docket for the weekend? After last weekend’s massive readathon, I’m kind of enjoying taking my time with this one. Especially since I ended up readathon-ing all day Sunday as well. Whoops! But Ready Player One was just. So. Good. Amazing how a 400-page book can become a one-sitting read so fast.
Share and Enjoy

Hope you have a very fun weekend!
Now I’m adding Ready Player One AND We Sinners to my to-read shelf on Goodreads. (Although I guess now they call it “want to read” shelf? I’m not a fan of the new buttons, but that’s a rant for another day…)
Oh, that truly is a lovely cover! Hope you had a good weekend. Looking forward to your final thoughts on We Sinners.
